Vista Genetics is a progressive seedstock operation in
South Texas, producing Braunvieh, Red Angus, Hybrid, and
Composite seedstock. Vista Genetics participates on
multiple levels within the beef industry, and employs
artificial insemination, embryo transfer, and the latest
performance testing techniques in producing commercial
bulls and replacement females designed to help
commercial producers take full advantage of value based
marketing options. Vista Genetics includes
approximately 600 cows, made up of purebred Braunvieh,
purebred Red Angus, and commercial recipient cows used
in the embryo transfer program.

Spring
Internships: Vista Genetics offers
two Ranch Management internships available for the
Spring semester (~January 15 through ~May 31). Duties
are varied and include record keeping and data entry,
helping with calving and prepping cows for artificial
insemination and/or embryo transfer, range condition
monitoring and improvement, assisting with spring bull
sale, and general ranch labor. Each internship includes
a salary of $1000 per month, housing, some meals, and a
bonus program.

Summer

two Summer Ranch Management internships (~June 1 through
~August 15). Duties are varied and include record
keeping and data entry, range condition monitoring and
improvement, advertising and marketing tasks associated
with annual bull sale, and general ranch labor. Each
internship includes a salary of $800 per month, housing,
some meals, and a bonus program.

Fall
Internships: Vista Genetics offers
two Ranch Management internships available for the Fall
semester (~September 1 through ~December 15). Duties
are varied and include record keeping and data entry,
advertising and marketing tasks associated with annual
bull sale, assisting with calving and processing calves
at weaning range condition monitoring and improvement,
assisting with private treaty bull sales, and general
ranch labor. Each internship includes a salary of $1000
per month, housing, some meals, and a bonus program.

Qualifications:
All applicants must provide work and school references.
Applicants with less than 20 hours of agriculture
credits will be considered only on the recommendation of
their school. Applicants must exhibit a good work ethic
and willingness to learn different segments of the beef
industry. Prior experience with cattle is helpful, but
not always required.
