Red Angus
cattle fit efficient beef production like a glove.
Efficient beef production requires
that you know what you are producing, so including the most objectively
evaluated breed in the industry in Vista's seedstock program was a
'no brainer'.
The Red Angus Association of
America is a true performance organization with one of the most
aggressive records for innovations in performance measures.

The goal of the Vista Red Angus breeding program is balanced performance
with an emphasis on calving ease. It is just that simple.
"Trouble Free" bests describes the
Red Angus female. She is an easy-fleshing, fertile, docile,
low-maintenance, beef production unit that can thrive in a multitude of
environments. When you add the fact that Red Angus is the only breed
currently making real progress in developing EPDs for reproduction,
fertility, and longevity traits, it is no wonder Red Angus influenced
females are gaining popularity.
We believe that heifers should be bred to calve, unassisted, as two year
olds, breed back for a second calf in a limited breeding season, and
raise a quality calf. Red Angus has been a key ingredient for achieving
these things from our heifers. There is no other breed that can
contribute more in this situation. We have bred our commercial heifers
to moderate birth weight EPD bulls for the last several years with
tremendous success:
1. The Red Angus bulls cover our heifers well, settling the majority of
the heifers early in the breeding season.
2. Our heifers calve in brushy pastures where we couldn't help them if
we wanted to.
3. We consistently wean a greater than 90% calf crop from those heifers
that were palpated safe.
4. The weaning weights of the Red Angus calves out of our heifers
average within 50lb of the weaning weights produced by our mature cows.
5. The light birth weights give our heifers a better opportunity to
breed back. Our first-calf commercial heifers were 95% safe for their
second calf at the end of the 2000 parched breeding season.
6. The calves perform. Vista Red Angus calves are consistently among our
buyers' top gaining calves through preconditioning and the feedlot.
7. The calves produce results for the packer. Red Angus calves have
become some of the most desired for value added alliance programs,
because of their ability to consistently hang high-grading, tender
carcasses.
8.The Red Angus cross female makes a tremendous replacement with high
fertility, excellent disposition, and the ability to add carcass value.
Red Angus genetics can
have a positive effect on the bottom line of any breeding program. Make
your next calving ease bull a Vista Red Angus bull, and he will prove
that you can't live without him.
